HP Thunderbolt 120W dock compatibility

Resolution

The HP Thunderbolt 120W dock provides docking connections using second generation thunderbolt or USB-C 3.0 technologies. On the back of the docking station are multiple ports for connecting other devices. In addition to the AC power connection, the back of the device has the following ports available: 2 USB-A 3.0, 2 DisplayPort, 1 RJ 45/Ethernet, 1 VGA, 1 USB-C display data power (15w) and 1 Thunderbolt. There is also a USB-C port with data and power out (15w) on the front of the dock.

To be fully compatible, the dock must provide adequate power for the device and successfully work with 2 monitors, a mouse, keyboard, and networking. The following MiWorkspace recommended and supported PC laptops are fully compatible with this dock:

  • HP EliteBooks 840 G5, 850 G5, 840 G6, and 850 G6
  • Dell Latitudes 5410, 5420, 5430, 5440, 5520, 5530, 5540, 7400, 9410, 9420, 9430, 9440
  • Lenovo ThinkPads T14 Gen3, T14 Gen4, X13 Yoga Gen 3

The following MiWorkspace recommended and supported PC laptops are not compatible because these devices require too much power. These laptops cannot be reliably used with this dock and attempting to do so is not recommended or supported:

  • Dell Precisions 5550, 5560, 5570, and 5680
  • Lenovo ThinkPads P1 Gen5 and P1 Gen6
