Issue

How to recall an email using Undo Send.

Resolution

You have a short time to cancel a message (between 5 to 30 seconds), and if a message is not cancelled in that time, it is not otherwise possible to recall an email.

Recall an Email with Undo Send

If you would like to recall/unsend an email you just sent from your U-M Google account, you have a short time to do so.
  1. Immediately after you send a message, you will see a message on the bottom left of your screen that says "Message sent".
  2. Click the option to "Undo" or "View message".
  3. Click Undo.

Choose an Amount of Time to Recall a Message

You can set the amount of time you have to recall a message.

  1. On your computer, go to Gmail.
  2. In the top right, click Settings (indicated by a gear icon) -> See all settings.
  3. Next to "Undo Send," select a Send cancellation period of 5, 10, 20, or 30 seconds.

Additional Information

Note: Gmail and Outlook are different products. Undo Send for Gmail and Recall for Microsoft Outlook are different processes and do not work the same way.
