Comments in Microsoft Word are Displayed as "Author"

In Microsoft Word, the comment function is used to collaborate comments between one or more users. The comments should display with a user's full name as per their Microsoft Office 365 Profile. 

In this case, the comments come from the person "Author" instead of their full name. 


To make reviewer names stay for future comments:

  • Go to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Privacy Options and clear the check box for "Remove personal information from file properties on save

Additional Information

The replacement of reviewer names with "Author" occurs when the Document Inspector has been run on the document and told to remove document properties and personal information. It may not be possible to re-add author names once they've been removed from a document.
