Issue
- Does U-M have control over what appears in the search results from the Google search engine? (google.com)

Resolution
ITS has NO CONTROL over Google search results and provides no support for any suggestions found on the web or the suggestions below. While ITS maintains the infrastructure of many U-M websites, it is the responsibility of the website owner to maintain the site itself.
It can take weeks to months for Google to find and index a new site, even if the site has good metadata and clean search engine optimization (SEO).
Here are some tips to help improve the chances of a site appearing on Google search:
There are articles online that offer suggestions on manipulating Google search results, but nothing we can attest to or help with.
