How to change a Journal Source Code

Resolution

  1. To change a Journal Source Code, the user needs to submit an OARS request at this website:  https://access.its.umich.edu/
    1. On that page, click on Request
    2. On the new page that appears, under 'Add/Remove Roles,' go to Other
    3. Then Secondary Security Only
    4. Then Secondary Security Only - Financials & Physical Resources
    5. Check the box here
  2. In the 'Additional Comments / Request Comments' section at the bottom of the page, enter the Journal Source Code that is desired

What is a journal source code?

  • A Journal Source Code is a 2-3 character reference for the origin of a Journal. When a person requests GL ONLINE JOURNAL ENTRY USER in OARS, they're required to include a Journal Source code.
  • If you are not sure of your unit's Journal Source, you can contact Financial Operations staff at journal.sources@umich.edu for assistance.
