Make Google Form Accessible to Non-University Users

Environment

U-M Google Forms

Issue

I created a Google Form, but it's not accessible by people outside of U-M.

Resolution

The "Restrict to users in University of Michigan and its trusted organizations" setting will need to be disabled per the instructions below:

  1. Click the "Settings" tab at the top-center of the page.
  2. Expand the "Responses" section.
  3. Disable the "Restrict to users in University of Michigan and its trusted organizations" setting.

The "Collect email addresses" setting will need to be changed per the instructions below, if providing access to people without a Google account:

  1. Click the "Settings" tab at the top-center of the page.
  2. Expand the "Responses" section.
  3. Click the "Collect email addresses" setting drop-down menu and select the appropriate option.
    • Do not collect
      • Google sign in and responder provided email address not required.
    • Responder input
      • Google sign in not required. Responder provided email address required.
    • Verified
      • Google sign in required.

Additional Information

Note: Google Forms "File Upload" feature will not work for people outside of U-M, even with "Restrict to users in University of Michigan and its trusted organizations" turned off. It will only work for those within the U-M domain.
