Issue

There are limitations when entering a Preferred Name on the Names page found in Employee Self-service/Student Business > Campus Personal Information > Names

Resolution

  • Preferred Names can only contain alphabetic characters, periods (.) hyphens (-), apostrophes (') and spaces ( )
  • Any other special characters are not permitted

NOTE:  The University reserves the right to remove a preferred name if it is used inappropriately.

Additional Information

The preferred name of record will be used according to the Preferred Name policy within the University, except where the use of the legal name is required by University business or legal need.
