Issue

Creating new project (non-course) sites in Canvas

Resolution

Note: Canvas sites are created by IT Staff when it is determined to be the best option for what is required.

          • Possible alternatives include Google Drive and shared drives (formerly known as Team Drives), U-M Dropbox, and U-M Google Discussion Groups
    2. Contact a U-M Canvas administrator to have your site created
      1. University departments have Canvas Sub-Account Admins in departments who can help create sites
        1. Please contact that person in your department if you know who they are
        2. If you don't know who your Canvas Sub-Account Admin is, contact the ITS Service Center
  • Student Organizations
    • Please use Maize Pages (https://campusinvolvement.umich.edu/maize-pages-guide)
      • If your organization is a Sponsored Student Organization, you can have a Canvas site created with the sponsoring unit's approval
    • Have your faculty or staff representative contact a U-M Canvas administrator to have your site created
      • University departments have Canvas Sub-Account Admins in departments who can help create sites
        • Please contact that person in your department if you know who they are
