Issue
How should I use the PowerPoint accessibility checker?
Resolution
The PowerPoint accessibility checker (Review > Check Accessibility > Check Accessibility) covers the following areas:
- Color contrast
- Alt text
- Multimedia subtitles
- Tables
- Document title
- Slide titles
- Reading order
- Section names
- Document access
We recommend performing the following additional checks:
- Reading Order Pane
- Run Review > Check Accessibility > Reading Order Pane to ensure all text is included in a logical reading order and that non-text elements are omitted from the reading order.
- Fonts
- Ensure that text is sufficiently large (18 pt. or higher for all text) and uses a simple sans-serif font such as Ariel or Calibri.
- Line Spacing
- Where possible, use 1.5 line spacing (select the relevant text box and then choose Home > Paragraph > Line Spacing)
