Why Can't I See Grade Rosters I Had Access to Before?

Environment

University of Michigan (U-M) MPathways Faculty Center

Issue

Emeritus/Emerita Faculty or other former U-M instructors or faculty members are unable to view grade rosters.

Resolution

Former, retired, and Emeritus/Emerita Faculty without active employee status do not have access to class grade rosters.

In October of 2024, the central Registrar's Office (RO) implemented a policy change related to grade roster access based on a review performed by the Audit Services department. As a result, ITS updated MPathways to remove grade roster access from instructors who have left the university, as well as retirees. Grade and grade change access will only be retained through the end of a person's active employment. The RO communicated this change to school Registrars and Records offices.

Additional Information

  • If Emeritus/Emerita Faculty want to view grades for letters of reference or recommendation, they can ask students/alumni to share grades or transcripts.
  • For help adding or updating grades, they should contact their school or college's registrar or student records staff, or contact the central RO.
