How do I create/record or update my name pronunciation recording in NameCoach

Resolution

Record Your Name in NameCoach

  1. Log in to U-M NameCoach.
  2. If you have not recorded your name pronunciation, you will see the new recording page. 
  3. Enter a phonetic spelling (see the Phonetic Spelling Guide for help).
  4. Select the method you wish to use to record your name: Phone, Web Recorder, or Uploader.

Phone

  1. Click the Phone radio button.
  2. Enter your telephone number, beginning with the area code, in the provided field. (e.g. 734-764-1871).
  3. Click the Call me now! button.
  4. When NameCoach calls, follow the prompts to record your name.
  5. Hang up.
  6. Click the Submit button.

Web Recorder​​​​​

  1. Click the Web Recorder radio button.
  2. Click the Record button.
  3. Speak your name. When finished, click the Stop button.
  4. Click the Play button to hear your recording.
  5. Click Record Again if you're not happy with the recording.
  6. Click the Submit button.

Uploader

  1. Click the Uploader radio button.
  2. Locate the audio file on your computer and drag it into the Drag a file here box, or click Browse for file to locate the file.
  3. Click the Submit button.

Update your name

  1. Log in to NameCoach.
  2. If you have already recorded your name, click on your recordings tab and look for "UM Email Signature List" in the Edit Your Info column.
  3. click on Edit Preferred recording button to update the recording and/or phonetic spelling as detailed above.
