How to turn on and off the "vacation" or "Out of Office" message in MCommunity for auto-reply to incoming messages.

Resolution

How to Turn On Vacation Responder

  1. Log in to MCommunity (mcommunity.umich.edu)
  2. Click My Profile (upper right-hand corner) then click Edit my information (you will have to enter your password again)
  3. Scroll down to Away Message
  4. Check the Set up away message box to turn ON your away message
  5. Enter the message you want people to receive
    1. Try to make it simple. 
    2. Multiple paragraphs or formatted characters can cause the message to display improperly.
  6. Select a Begin Date
  7. Select an End Date or check the Indefinite End Date box
  8. Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page

How to Turn Off Vacation Responder

  1. Log in to MCommunity (mcommunity.umich.edu)
  2. Click My Profile (upper right-hand corner) then click Edit my information (you will have to enter your password again)
  3. Scroll down to Away Message
  4. Uncheck the Set up away message box to turn OFF your away message
    1. This will not delete the message text from your entry.

Note: We strongly recommended that you use MCommunity to set your away message rather than the Gmail's native option.
