Issue
How do I log out of U-M Weblogin?
Resolution
When you log out of a service using U-M’s Weblogin single sign-on service (Shibboleth), you will see a logout screen beginning with "Thank you! You have been signed out of the service you were just using."
Most applications using single sign-on do not completely log you out if you click a Logout or Sign Out button within the application. Even if the logout appears to be successful, you may be logged back in automatically the next time you visit the application.
To make sure you are completely logged out of U-M's services, completely quit your browser session. This is especially important if you are on a shared computer.
- On a Mac, go to the top menu item named after the program (e.g,. Chrome or Firefox) and choose Quit from that menu.
- On a PC, click the X on the top right of all open browser windows.
Depending on your browser settings, you may also need to clear your browser’s cache and cookies. See Clear Cache and Cookies (Temporary Internet Files) in Multiple Browsers for links to instructions on how to do this on your browser.
