Issue

How a teacher can change a user's role in a Canvas course.

Resolution

Important: teachers can only change user roles for manually added users. Teachers are not able to change the role of a student in an academic course who was automatically enrolled due to registering via Wolverine Access.

1. Navigate to the course > People.
2. Search for the user whose role you would like to change.
3. Click the 3 vertical dots on the far right side of their line.
4. Select Edit Role.
5. Select the new role you would like that user to have.
   • Note: Users are not notified of this role change in Canvas.
