You may wish to remove the link between a Lecture Recording site and a Canvas site for any number of reasons. There are two ways to do this. Disabling the link Canvas will simply hide it from viewers (typically students). To completely remove the link between the two, you will have to do it from the Lecture Recording site.
To remove the link to Lecture Recording from the Canvas site...
- Log into Canvas, then go to your course site.
- Click the Settings option at the bottom of the navigation menu on the left.
- Select the Navigation tab from the top of the next page.
- Scroll down the available options until you see Lecture Recordings.
- There are two ways to deactivate the navigation link.
- Click and drag the Lecture Recordings tab to the bottom section labeled Drag items here to hide them from students.
- Open the elipse menu (the three dots) to the right, then select Disable:
6. Finally, click the blue Save button at the bottom of the page.
The link will still be there in the Lecture Recording site, but no students or non-site managers will be able to access it from Canvas. This is to simplify reactivating the link should you change your mind.
To remove the link to Canvas from the Lecture Recording site...
- Go to your Lecture Recording My Sites page (https://leccap.engin.umich.edu/leccap/manage/site)
- Select the Site Info option attached to any Lecture Recording site.
- Look for the Canvas Placements module at the top of the right column.
- Click the red X next to any Canvas Course site you wish to unlink.
- A pop-up window will show appear asking Remove this LTI linkage?
- If you are sure, choose OK. If not, select Cancel.
- Refresh the page to verify the Canvas Course site is no longer listed.
This will completely sever the connection between the Lecture Recording site and the Canvas course site. Should the need arise to re-link them, it will have to be done from scratch.
As a reminder, the CAEN team will never grant a student access to Lecture Recordings in any site or grant managing permissions without the consent of the site owner (typically the instructor).
