Note: The following instructions only refer to running WSL on CAEN Lab Software Environment (CLSE) computers.
To use CAEN’s WSL instance, you must be logged inti a computer running the CLSE for Windows at an in-person lab location. Once you’re logged in, AppsAnywhere should open automatically. Clicking Launch should open the "Cloudpaging Player" window with an option(s) to run applications, based on your role at the University. After some time you will be prompted to login, this it to allow you to be able to access the files in your home directory:
This step might take some time to load, but once it does, you should see the Cloudpaging Player window:
Click the green "play" or Launch icon at the top-left, and you should then see a list of shortcuts. You can use the Apps shortcut to access some Linux applications, or open the WSL Terminal as yourself or root:
For example, if you click WSL Terminal as user, a new window will appear with a traditional Linux prompt after a short loading period:
WSL is now ready to use.
