Summary
The built-in microphone on some Dell Latitude models stops working, often in the middle of a Zoom, Teams, or Hangouts call. The app will show an error that the microphone is no longer detected, and will often subsequently crash.
Environment
Windows 10 on Dell Latitude 5xxx series laptops
Directions
- Right click the sound icon in the system tray near the clock and click "Sounds"
- Go to the "Recording" tab
- Click on "Microphone Array"
- Click the "Properties" button
- Click the "Advanced" button
- Uncheck "enable audio enhancements"
