Troubleshooting

  1. The Cynap you are trying to connect to isn't listed as a choice of wireless display to connect to.
    1. Make sure you are connected to MWireless
    2. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on
    3. If Bluetooth is already on try turning it off and on again
    4. Put the host device to sleep and wake it again
    5. Restart host device
    6. Restart Cynap
  2. When trying to connect after putting in the four digit PIN an error message comes up saying "could not connect to device"
    1. Restart host device
    2. Restart Cynap
  3. When trying to connect after putting in the four digit PIN the host device connects but nothing is displayed on the Cynap Screen
    1. Check that the device was logged into MWireless with a uniqname account. If logged into MWireless with a uniqname account the IP address will start with 35. but if signed in with a non-uniqname account the IP will start with 67. and will not be able to connect with the Cynap until the host device is signed in with a uniqname account. To find the MWireless IP address do the following:
      1. For iPhone/iPad go to Settings/WiFi, then tap on the i next to the network name (MWireless).
      2. For Mac computers Click on the Apple icon on the upper-left corner of the screen. Scroll down and select System Preferences. Click Network. (This should be on the third row). Select the Wi-Fi and the IP address should be listed under Status on the right side of the window.
      3. For Windows computers Select Start > Settings > Network & internet > Wi-Fi and then select the Wi-Fi network you're connected to. Under Properties, look for your IP address listed next to IPv4 address.
      4. For Android depending on your version Go to Settings >> Wireless & networks/WLAN, or Settings >> Network & Internet >> Wi-Fi. Tap on the Wi-Fi you are connected to (MWireless), then it will show the network info including signal strength, security, MAC address and IP address
    2. If you are connecting with a newer Mac laptop or iPhone check with Instructional Computing staff to make sure that AirPlay 4K mode is disabled on the Cynap
    3. Restart the host device
    4. Restart the Cynap
