For Apple Silicon M1 and M2 (any chip that does not have Pro or Max in the title) laptops, this is the only way to extend video to two additional displays.

Environment

Mac Laptops
DisplayLink-compatible docking stations (the most commonly deployed in our environment are the Dell UD22 and D6000)

Directions

  1. Check to make sure that the dock you are using is compatible with DisplayLink. This will be generally listed within the specifications for the dock on the manufacturer's website.
  2. Download and install DisplayLink Graphics driver - Synaptics DisplayLink Graphics Manager for Mac
  3. Connect the laptop to the docking station.
  4. After connecting the laptop to the dock, you will get a prompt to give permissions for Screen Recording. To allow this, go to System Preferences - Security & Privacy - Privacy - Click 'allow' under 'Screen Recording'.
    • You will need to Unlock the panel to make changes using admin credentials
  5. Open the DisplayLink Manager application. Quit the application and reopen.
