CTRL+V Shortcut Not Pasting Content From Clipboard

Issue

The CTRL+V keyboard shortcut is no longer pasting content from the Clipboard, or the keyboard shortcut has become unbound from the command.

Environment

Windows
Microsoft Word

Resolution

  1. Open Microsoft Word
  2. Select 'File' > 'Option'
  3. Select 'Customize Ribbon'.
  4. Click the 'Customize' option next to 'Keyboard Shortcuts'.
  5. In the Categories section, select 'All Commands'
  6. After selecting "All Commands", locate "EditPaste" in the Commands menu.
  7. Under 'New Shortcut Key', enter 'Ctrl+V'. Then, enter 'Shift + Insert".
  8. Once both commands are in the 'Current Keys' section, select 'Assign'.
  9. Test copying + pasting text from your clipboard in a Word document.
