Installing StarTech USB-C ethernet adapter on a Mac

Directions

1. Navigate to https://www.startech.com/Networking-IO/usb-network-adapters/usb-c-gigabit-network-adapter~US1GC301AU.
2. Under the product description, click on the "Support" tab.
3. Under "Drivers and Downloads", select the download link "ASIX_AX88179.zip" and save the file to the computer.
4. Unzip the file and move into the ASIX_AX88179/Mac folder.
5. Open AX88179_178A.dmg and then run the installer package within the dmg.
6. At the end of the installation, the computer will reboot and when it turns back on the USB-C to ethernet adapter will appear in the network adapters list under System Preferences → Network.
