Issue
Occasionally after running a MacOS update, an error will be displayed in Microsoft Office applications reading “View Only Your account uniqname@umich.edu doesn’t allow editing on a Mac. To learn more, contact your admin about your Microsoft 365 plan”. The error will be displayed at the top of a document in a yellow bar.

Cause
The error can occasionally occur on Mac systems shortly after installing a MacOS update.
Resolution
This issue can be fixed by doing the following:
1. Have the user open one of the affected applications, like Microsoft Word or Excel.
2. Have the user click the “Use Another Account” button on the yellow bar and sign in with their UMICH email address again.
3. Restart the computer.
4. Upon reopening the Office 365 applications after the restart, the user's account should now have editing access.
