Downloading a lecture recording transcript

Summary

Instructions for downloading a transcript from a lecture recording.

Environment

Any LSA-managed classroom using a Lecture Recording equipped podium.

Directions

If the recording does not already have captions, they will need to be created first. You can learn more about requesting and editing Lecture Recording captions here.

To download a transcript from any lecture recording,

  1. Visit the lecture recording management page. Select the Recordings option for the course you would like to download from.
  2. On the next page, click the Edit option attached to any published Lecture Recording recording.
  3. On the Edit Recording page, click on the Captions tab near the top of the screen.
  4. If captions have already been created, there will be a Machine Generated Captions module at the bottom of the page.
  5. In that module, you will see a bold heading labeled Downloads. Click the Transcript (TXT) option and a .txt file should automatically download to wherever your browser downloads files by default.

Please note: At this time there is not a method for downloading transcripts from more than one recording simultaneously; each transcript will need to be downloaded individually.
