Epson laser projectors are gradually replacing lamp based units in classrooms and conference rooms
Look for the word LASER on the body of the projector
The Epson L730U uses the small, white blue-button remote
Although the casing and button placement are identical, these two Epson projector remotes are differently programmed and marked accordingly.
The one on the right with the orange button may be regarded as less likely to be useful but not entirely obsolete.
Technicians responding to calls for assistance with projection issues in classrooms and conference rooms are most likely to need the newer model.
Look for the blue button.
Larger lamp-based Epsons G-7000W and PU-1008 use the longer black remotes
These long body remotes share some of the same features, with buttons differently placed on the top half, above the wheel.
Again, the orange button indicates an earlier vintage remote which might not function properly (or at all) with newer model Epson projectors.
Projectors in booths often have the black remote if it's an Epson, or their own brand of remote as with the Christie in AHA.
Be Prepared
Technicians who work Zone Shifts are encouraged to carry remotes for both laser and lamp projectors, and know where the closest options are located.
Technicians are also advised to stock at least one of each remote in the projection booths.
Note that we now have separate bins in AH G197 for extra projector and DVD/Blu-ray remotes.
This includes a modest selection of earlier models to help with requests for service with vintage and legacy equipment.
