What is GSRP?
The Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is Michigan's state-funded preschool program for four-year-old children, which is administered by the Michigan Department of Livelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP) Office of Early Education.
Research on preschool programs, and specific research on GSRP, indicates that children provided with a high-quality preschool experience show significant positive developmental differences when compared to children from the same backgrounds who did not attend a high-quality preschool program.
GSRP at Health System Children's Center
All Health System Children's Center preschool classrooms are supported, in part, by the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) and have been allotted a specific number of GSRP-funded "seats" for children.
As part of our participation in GSRP, our staff experience increased coaching and professional development, and our families experience increased opportunities for program engagement, including home visits and other events. Our preschool classrooms continue to be multi-age learning environments, with the same curriculum and assessment tools used by the rest of the center.

Opportunities for Family Participation
The Great Start Collaborative (GSC) Family Coalition and Trusted Parent Advisors are groups of local families who work together to ensure family voices are heard in decisions about programs and services for young children in our community. GSRP families are welcome to join and be part of making a difference for children and families.
