Canadian citizens do not need to apply for or obtain a student visa, but they must still pay the SEVIS fee before arriving at the port of entry. In addition, a University of Michigan I-20 is required, and they will need to present this to the border official at the port of entry into the U.S. along with proof of financial support. There, they will be issued an I-94 card establishing the student status that will permit them to stay in the U.S. to study.
