Rubrics on External Tool Submissions

Canvas does not allow you to attach a rubric directly to an assignment that is set as an External Tool submission type. However, there is a workaround to allow the use of a rubric to grade.

1. Create an assignment.
2. Set the Submission Type to File Uploads.
   
3. Set the remainder of the assignment details as desired.
4. Save the assignment.
5. Click the assignment link and go to Edit.
6. Change the Submission Type to External Tool.
   
7. Select the tool you would like to use and follow the prompts to finish linking the tool to the assignment.
8. Save and Publish the assignment.

The rubric will not be visible on the assignment itself, but it will appear in the Speedgrader where it can be used for grading.
