Why do some applications take longer than others to run with AppsAnywhere?

When a software application is launched from AppsAnywhere, only the data needed to initially start the application are downloaded and virtualized. Other pieces (e.g. add-ons, plugins, databases, help tools, registry keys...) are not loaded until requested by the application. While this generally increases the speed in which applications start, some applications require a larger amount of data to download and virtualize.

Applications known to have longer-than-normal load times include:

  • Aspen Engineering Suite
  • ArcGIS
  • Autodesk
  • Materials Studio
  • SolidWorks
  • Teamcenter

CAEN staff continue to work on ways to decrease the load time of applications.
