Using Google Colaboratory with Google Drive

Summary

Google Colaboratory appears to be blocked in the Google Workspace Marketplace, but can still be used and enabled to work with Google Drive without needing to enable or install the add-on.

Environment

• Google Drive
• Google Colaboratory

Directions

1. Navigate to Google Colaboratory.
2. When prompted where to create your first/new notebook, choose Google Drive along the top.
   • You may be prompted to allow the connection to Google Drive, if so, allow it.
3. Google Colaboratory is now connected to your Google Drive, and you can open, save, and edit files from Google Drive using Colaboratory.

Using Colaboratory by Default 

If you'd like to have associated file types open in Google Colab by default from Google drive, you must enable it in your Google Drive settings:

1. Click the Settings icon in the upper right and click Settings.
2. Click Manage Apps from the left side menu options.
3. Locate Google Colaboratory and check the "Use by Default" option.
