Installing LDSS3 IRAF tools

Installing the LDSS3 IRAF Tools.

Environment

• macOS
• RHEL
• Astronomy
• iraf27 environment configured for Astronomy department

Directions

This article assumes you have the iraf27 environment installed in /usr/local/anaconda/envs/iraf27.

1. Download the LDSS3 tools.
2. Un-tar the downloaded file by double clicking it.
3. Copy the resulting ldss3_tools_dist folder to /usr/local/anaconda/envs/iraf27/iraf_extern/.
4. Edit the package file: sudo vim /usr/local/anaconda/envs/iraf27/extern.pkg
5. Add the following lines:

   # ftp://iraf.noao.edu/iraf/v216/REPO
   reset ldss3 = /usr/local/anaconda/envs/iraf27/iraf_extern/ldss3_tools_dist/
   task ldss3.pkg = ldss3$ldss3.cl
   reset helpdb= ( envget("helpdb") + ",ldss3$lib/helpdb.mip" )
   reset aproposdb= ( envget("ldss3") + ",ldss3$lib/apropos.db" )
