Installing Dropbox on RHEL 7

Summary

Install a Dropbox client and allow for automatic syncing on RHEL 7 compared to the workaround Rclone, which requires a manual sync.

Please note: Insert note text here. Even though the official Dropbox client does not work with RHEL 7, the Dropbox client can still be installed via Flatpak.

Environment

  • RHEL 7

Directions

  1. Ensure flatpak is installed: sudo yum install flatpak
  2. Enable the Flathub repo: sudo flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo
  3. Install the Dropbox Client package: sudo flatpak -y install flathub com.dropbox.Client
  4. Perform one of the following:
    • Launch the Dropbox Client, which will bring you to Dropbox's login page to connect your Dropbox account.
    • Launch from the command line: flatpak run com.dropbox.Client
    • OR search from the Application Overview GUI: SUPER key
