Determining RHEL & Ubuntu end of life dates

Summary

Details on determining end of support dates for RHEL & Ubuntu operating systems in the LSA environment.

Environment

LSA linux

Determining RHEL EOL dates

RHEL support is broken down into 6 phases. LSA considers the OS supported through the maintenance support dates. Once an OS reaches extended life support LSA considers it end of life. Machines running an OS past this date will need have extended support licenses purchased or work our security mitigation process.

Detailed RHEL lifecycle information can be found here.

Determining Ubuntu EOL dates

Ubuntu release cycle & support information can be found here. For LSA purposes, we will consider a device supported as long as it is in the "LTS standard security maintenance for Ubuntu Main" category (this is the orange boxes on the website). Once an OS passes this level of support LSA considers it end of life. Machines running an OS past this date will need have extended support licenses purchased or work our security mitigation process.
