Microphones in Team Based Learning Classrooms (TBL)

Technologically enhanced team-based learning classrooms are equipped with tethered table microphones, enabling participants to engage in discussion without having to fiddle with clip-on, hand-held or Catchbox microphones. Each student station has a circular microphone that can be easily moved across the surface of the table to accommodate whoever wishes to be heard. Because the microphone can be muted with a fingertip, there is no need to move the microphone off of the table surface.

When the ring is green, the microphone is on.

When the ring is red, the microphone is muted.

To amplify your voice, press the microphone icon seen on the rim.

To mute the microphone, press the icon again.

Please remember to mute the microphone after you're done speaking.

When using this equipment, we ask that you observe these sensible guidelines:

Do not place microphones on top of the wooden cabinets.

Each cabinet houses a movable digital screen and an electrically powered raising/lowering mechanism.

As the lid raises, a microphone left on top of the cabinet will slide off the edge and plummet toward the floor.

This also stresses the connection at the other end of the microphone cable.

Other things not to do with tethered microphones:

Do not drape them over the top of wall-mounted screens.

Do not shove them behind the wall-mounted screen.

Please do not disconnect the microphone.

This equipment has been engineered and installed for your convenience, to enhance and improve your educational experience.
