To determine if the podium mounted Wacom monitor has lost power altogether, press the power button at the top center or left upper edge of the frame and check to see if a small orange or blue light is visible near its top left corner - not on the screen, but in the outer framework of the monitor itself. If no light is visible even after the rest of the system has been turned on, it may be necessary to trace the signal path and determine where the disconnect has occurred.
Probable cause
Easily recognizable by the array of buttons on either side of the screen,
the older model Wacoms (DTH-2200) have snake-like cabling
that gradually tends to get coiled around the base of the monitor arm
as users rotate the unit to suit their individual needs.
This creates tension that may pull the cabling out of the arm - or worse!
How to restore power
If extreme tension has disconnected the internal power cable from the screen,
the technician will need to extract multiple screws to remove the back panel
from the main body of the monitor, locate and reseat the connection.
The newer Wacom monitors
- are simpler, more compact
- and fitted with sensibly secured cabling
- greatly reducing the likelihood of signal path interruption
