Setting up Brother P-touch label printer to network print

Summary

This guide will teach you how to set up your Brother P-Touch PT-950NW label printer on the network in order to print labels remotely. This guide assumes you have already completed the steps in the Printing TDX QR Asset Labels

Directions

  1. Download the Printer Setting Tool from Brother’s website

  2. After the program is installed, connect the printer to your computer with the USB cable as normal. Also at this point plug the printer into an ethernet cable

  3. Launch the Printer Setting Tool, ensure that the Brother label printer is selected and choose the Communication Settings button

  4. Choose the Wired Lan tab, select the Current Status option and record the MAC Address. You will need to go to BlueCat Address Manager and set up a static IP address for this printer

  5. Go back to the Printer Setting Tool and choose the Wired LAN tab, select the TCP/IP(WIRED) option and change the Boot Method to Static, enter in the IP information you created in BlueCat and hit Apply

  6. After the printer resets you can unplug the USB cable

  7. Press the wifi button to turn it off (if it is on) as the printer cannot be set to print wired and wirelessly simultaneously

  8. To install on Windows go to Printers and Scanners > Add Device > Add Manually > Add a printer using an IP address or hostname > Device Type: TCP/IP add your static IP address and continue the wizard as normal

Please note: Once the printer is on the Network you can use the BRAdmin Light tool to manage the printer via the network without needing to be connected with the USB cable..
