PowerPoint on the classroom computer - how to configure in extend mode

Summary

Simple procedural instructions for setting a PowerPoint slideshow to provide presenter with a view of the forthcoming slide, while only displaying the current slide to the audience.

Environment

Standard Windows OS podium computers in classrooms and auditoriums.

Directions 

  • Double Click on Desktop’s Display Mode icon

  • Choose “Extend”

  • Drag & Drop PowerPoint file to Desktop

  • Open PowerPoint presentation - it should appear in a scaled down box

  • You should see large primary slide with slideshow array on the left

  • Start the slideshow “from the beginning”

  • You should see your first slide, with the next slide now appearing on the right

  • The audience only sees the slide that you want them to see

  • Afterwards, before logging off, please reset Display Mode to “Duplicate”
