Height-adjustable podium lift mechanism reset procedure

Tags podium

Sometimes the height-adjustable podium's raise and lower buttons become unresponsive. The manufacturer has provided an explanation of the cause and step by step procedure for resolving the issue - but even experienced technicians may not be aware of the instructions, which are posted on the pull-out tray beneath the podium computer's keyboard.

This lectern has a load-sensing, anti-collision feature in the controller that actively locks out the lift mechanism when unbalanced loads are encountered: i.e. weight from a person sitting on the side of the lectern. The following reset procedure should be performed if the lift mechanism locks up and the lectern does not extend or retract.

The simplest, quickest solution is to press the "down" button, release, then press again for 30 seconds.

For more detailed instructions, including precautions and safety advisories, consult the manufacturer's instructions on a sticker posted beneath the podium computer's keyboard (see attachment). Before following the 8-step procedure outlined in those instructions, (which begin with unplugging the podium from the wall-mounted AC outlet), first try the simplest, quickest solution printed above in boldface.
