Summary
This article describes how to download, install, and configure alerts in the Thermo Scientificâ„¢ Smart-Vueâ„¢ client.
- Please note that the Smart-Vue client only operates on Windows-based operating systems.
- The client requires a connection to the UMVPN when working off campus or on limited-access networks. This includes the MWireless Wi-Fi network.
Set Up | Directions
- Download the full SmartVueClientENG.zip folder.
- You'll get a Microsoft Defender pop-up - "Windows Protected your PC". To bypass this, click the "More info" link, and then "Run anyway".
- Extract that archive.
- Open the extracted folder and run "setup.exe" with administrator access; go through the motions of the installation.
- (Your mileage may vary) After the progress bar nearly fills up, you'll get an error message. Click "OK" and close all associated window(s). This will finish the installation.
- Launch the "Smart-Vue Client" app from the start menu. It may also appear as "SmartVueClient.exe".
- On the login screen, click the ">>" button to view more fields. Enter eeb-smartvue2.adsroot.itcs.umich.edu as the server and leave the port number as 11000.
- Enter the Login (username) and Password of your Smart-Vue account. If you believe you should have access but currently do not, please contact LSA Technology Services.
Configuring Alerts
You can customize how you receive your alert notifications, as well as the delivery method.
- In the Smart-Vue client, go to the Settings tab on the top toolbar (shortcut Alt+S).
- Click on the button featuring two distinctly colored human icons - this is the "User and call group management" menu.
- If prompted, enter your Login (username) and Password.
- Click the "View my profile" button under the "User list" tab (upper-left corner of the menu).
- Make changes as needed, then click "OK" to save them.
