Retiree Medicare Information Requirement

Tags Medicare

BM (Medicare Information Forms) show as pending until the retirement event is processed.

BTT can’t process the RET event until after the effective date of when their retirement benefits would start.

If we have all the correct information (Medicare Information, etc.) when the retirement event is processed then we process it at that point and the retiree will receive a refund for the difference for the first month they are retired.

If we are awaiting information from the retiree, we will process the RET event but put them in the non-Medicare Advantage plan until we receive it.  We cannot retroactively change plans due to Medicare regulations and so when we receive the Medicare information, the change would not be effective until the first of the following month and they will not receive a refund for that current month.  One caveat to that is: If the date we receive their Medicare information is between the 20th and end of the month prior to the effective date of the change and they have already paid, then they would receive a refund (ex. ACH has already been pulled).
