Issue

When signing in with Okta, you receive one of the following error messages.

Resolution

Unable to Sign in

This error message is displayed when you enter the incorrect uniqname, email address, or password.

If this error comes up after entering your uniqname/email address:

  • Please double check your spelling.
  • Michigan Medicine affiliates: Ensure you are entering your uniqname or @umich.edu email. The @med.umich.edu email will not work in Okta. 
  • Friend Accounts: Create a new friend account at friend.it.umich.edu.

If this error comes up after entering your password:

 

Unable to Sign in. Contact Support For Assistance

This error indicates you need to add a multi-factor authentication device to your account.

  • Contact your support group for further assistance.
    • Campus affiliates: ITS
    • Michigan Medicine affiliates: HITS

 

Unable to Sign in - The Browser is Blocking Communication with Okta Verify
