Dell WD19S 180W docking station compatibility

Resolution

The Dell WD19S 180W docking station provides docking connections using USB 3.1 Type C technology. On the back of the docking station there are multiple ports for connecting other devices. In addition to the AC power in connection, the back of the device has the following ports available: 2 USB-A 3.1, 2 DisplayPort (1.4), 1 RJ 45/Ethernet, 1 HDMI, and 1 USB-C multifunction DisplayPort. On the front of the dock there are two ports available: 1 USB-C 3.1 Gen2 and 1 USB-A 3.1 Gen 1 with PowerShare.

To be fully compatible, the dock must provide adequate power for the device and successfully work with 2 monitors, a mouse, keyboard, and networking. The following MiWorkspace recommended and supported PC laptops are fully compatible with this dock:

  • HP EliteBooks 840 G5, 850 G5, 840 G6, and 850 G6 (on the G6 the dock power button does not consistently work to turn the laptop on and off)
  • Dell Latitudes 5410, 5420, 5430, 5440, 5450, 5520, 5530, 5540, 5550, 7350 (standard and detachable), 7400, 9410, 9420, 9430, 9440
  • Lenovo ThinkPads T14 Gen3, T14 Gen4, T14 Gen5, X13 Yoga Gen 3 - however the dock power button does not work

The following MiWorkspace recommended and supported PC laptops are not compatible because these devices require too much power. These laptops cannot be reliably used with this dock and attempting to do so is not recommended or supported:

  • Dell Precisions 5550, 5560, 5570, 5680, and 5690
  • Lenovo ThinkPads P1 Gen5, P1 Gen6
