Determine the Operating System Version of a Windows Computer

Issue

How do I figure out what version of the Operating System (OS) my Windows computer is running?

Resolution

 WINDOWS 10

  1. Click the Start (Window)  button
  2. Click Settings  (the gear icon)
  3. Click System 
  4. Click About (you might need to scroll down on the left side to see it)
  5. Windows specifications -> Version 
    • Will display number like  20H2, 21H1 or 21H2

OR

  1. Click on the MiWorkspace Helper App ( the block M) in the System Tray found in the lower right corner by the clock
  2. Build Number will be displayed
    • Build 10586 = Windows 10 version 1511
    • Build 14393 = Windows 10 version 1607
    • Build 15063 = Windows 10 version 1703
    • Build 16299 = Windows 10 version 1709
    • Build 17134 = Windows 10 version 1803
    • Build 17763 = Windows 10 version 1809
    • Build 18362 = Windows 10 version 1903
    • Build 18363 = Windows 10 version 1909
    • Build 19041 = Windows 10 version 2004
    • Build 19042 = Windows 10 version 20H2 (Also known as 2009)
    • Build 19043 = Windows 10 version 21H1
    • Build 19044 = Windows 10 version 21H2
    • Build 19045 = Windows 10 version 22H2

OR

  1. Open the Start Menu (or press WIN+R to open the Run dialog box)
  2. Type in "winver" (without quotes) and hit enter
    1. A dialog box will pop up that will contain the version number
