Determine the Operating System Version of a Windows Computer

Issue

How do I figure out what version of the Operating System (OS) my Windows computer is running?

Resolution

Windows

  1. Click the Start (Window)  button
  2. Click Settings  (the gear icon)
  3. Click System 
  4. Click About (you might need to scroll down on the left side to see it)
  5. Windows specifications -> Version 
    • Will display number like  23H2, 24H2, etc.

OR

  1. Click on the MiWorkspace Helper App ( the block M) in the System Tray found in the lower right corner by the clock
  2. Build Number will be displayed
    • Build 22631 = Windows 11 version 23H2
    • Build 26100 = Windows 11 version 24H2

OR

  1. Open the Start Menu (or press WIN+R to open the Run dialog box)
  2. Type in "winver" (without quotes) and hit enter
    1. A dialog box will pop up that will contain the version number
