How to search for Knowledge Articles and Services in TeamDynamix

Resolution

Client Portal Full Search 

Full search is used in the client portal to search for Knowledge Base articles, Services and Service Offerings and Knowledge Base articles in TDNext.

  • Full search is the search box at the top of the client portal that says "Search the client portal"
  • Full search provides the best results and allows users to use search operators to control which results are found directly in the search terms
    • Full search looks at multiple fields, each with different weighting in order to prioritize the results (see below) 
  • Full search uses a more advanced algorithm to put the search results in a more logical order.

The following fields are included in the client portal full search. Their weighted value (how much they contribute to the search) is listed:

Category Name (The Category Name field is included in the Category Path value, so its real weight can be considered 4.5) 1.5

When using full search, the following operators are available:  
  • AND: Requires that both terms are included in the results. For example, cats AND dogs will find results including both cats and dogs.  
  • NOT: Requires that the term after NOT is not included in the results. For example, cats NOT dogs will find results including cats and exclude all results that include dogs. 
  • OR: Allows results where either term is included. For example, cats OR dogs will find results with either term. As the OR operator is the default search operator, the previous example would be equivalent to searching for cats dogs. 
  • "": Requires that the exact phrase is included in the results. For example "cats and dogs" will search for results including the exact phrase "cats and dogs".  
  • #: Searches for a tag, in areas that support tags. For example, #animals will search for articles that are tagged with the animals tag.  

Advanced Knowledge Base Search in the Client Portal

Knowledge base specific search (advanced search) gives filtering options that are not available in Client Portal Full Search.  Advanced Knowledge Base search can be found by going into the Client Portal, clicking on the Knowledge Base tab, and then clicking on the word Search at the far right in the next row of tabs.

Advanced Service Search in the Client Portal

The Advanced Service Search can be found by going into the Client Portal, clicking on the Services tab, and then clicking on the word Search at the far right in the next row of tabs. You can search for services filtering on the category.
