Fix Incorrect Address or Phone Number in MCommunity

Issue

How do I fix my address or phone number in MCommunity?

Resolution

You must update your primary address(es) and phone number(s) at the official source. MCommunity Directory information comes from official University records and must be updated in those records rather than in MCommunity.  

The official record to be changed depends on your relationship with the University.

Faculty and Staff (all three campuses)

  • Update your home address online using Wolverine Access
    • Once in Wolverine Access, go to Employee Self Service -> Campus Personal Information -> Addresses
    • You can also update other sections of your Campus Personal Information using the tabs across the top of this screen
  • Update your home or work phone number(s) online using Wolverine Access
    • Employee Self Service -> Campus Personal Information -> Phone Numbers
    • You can also update other sections of your Campus Personal Information using the tabs across the top of this screen 
  • Update your work address through University Human Resources
    • Use the Campus Address or Personnel Data change form from the Shared Services Center: ssc.umich.edu/forms/personal-data-changes-eform/
    • For clarification about what your official Campus Work Address should be, please contact your local/unit HR person

Students on the Ann Arbor campus

  • Update your addresses and phone numbers online using Wolverine Access at http://wolverineaccess.umich.edu 
    • Student Business -> Campus Personal Information
  • Note that the Notification preferences email is not a changeable field and is not used by the University once you have your UMICH email account.

Students on the Dearborn campus

Students on the Flint campus

  • Students may update their address and phone number in the SIS (Student Information System)

Alumni (all three campuses)

  • No primary address or phone number displays publicly in the MCommunity Directory
    • There is an address which displays to the individual or in the Admin interface to authorized Support Staff
  • Contact Gift & Records to change the address in MCommunity: https://leadersandbest.umich.edu/alumni_update
    • There is an overnight process which will update MCommunity

Note: To change Alumni Record information as displayed in Wolverine Access, you will need to have valid proof. Call the Office of Enrollment Management at 734-647-3507 to determine what documents you will need.  

Sponsored Individuals (all three campuses)

  • No primary address or phone number displays in the MCommunity Directory
    • There is an address which displays to the individual or in the Admin interface to Support Staff
  • Name spellings or other data can be changed in the MCommunity Sponsorship system itself for sponsored individuals
    • There is an overnight process which will update MCommunity
  • Note: Sponsorship data is not shown in the directory unless it is the only source of information

Retirees

  • Update your home address online using Wolverine Access
    • Once in Wolverine Access, go to Employee Self Service -> Campus Personal Information -> Addresses
    • You can also update other sections of your Campus Personal Information using the tabs across the top of this screen
  • Update your home phone number(s) online using Wolverine Access
    • Employee Self Service -> Campus Personal Information -> Phone Numbers
    • You can also update other sections of your Campus Personal Information using the tabs across the top of this screen 

Note: To remove a Campus Mail address from your MCommunity profile, you need to contact the Shared Services Center at 734-615-2000.

For All Affiliations

An additional address and phone number can be entered using the Alternate Address and Alternate Phone fields under the Edit Your Information section of the MCommunity profile edit page.

  • The visibility of this data can be adjusted.
  • If a Campus Mail address or U-M Work phone number exists on the profile, the Alternate Address/Phone will be listed below the respective work data.
  • Since these fields are user-entered in the MCommunity system, they do not sync to Wolverine Access.
