Issue
How to search for Knowledge Articles and Services in TeamDynamix.
Resolution
Full Search
Full search provides the best results and allows users to use search operators to control which results are found directly in the search terms. Full search will look at multiple fields, each with different weighting in order to prioritize the results.
- Full search is the search box at the top of the client portal that says "Search the client porta.l"
- Full search provides the best results and allows users to use search operators to control which results are found directly in the search terms.
- Full search looks at multiple fields, each with different weighting in order to prioritize the results (see below).
- Full search uses a more advanced algorithm to put the search results in a more logical order.
Client Portal
Full Search is used in the client portal to search for Knowledge Base articles, Services and Service Offerings, and Questions. It is also used to search for Knowledge Base articles in TDNext. The following fields are included in the Client Portal Full Search with their weighted value (how much they contribute to the search) .

TDNext

- Tickets and Ticket Tasks
- Assets and Configuration Items
- Projects, Issues, Risks, and Project Tasks
- Project Requests
- Portfolio Issues and Portfolio Risks
- Articles, Services, Service Offerings and Questions
- People

Full Search Operators
When using full search, the following operators are available:
+: Requires that both terms are included in the results. For example, cats + dogs will find results including both cats and dogs. As the AND operator is the default search operator, the previous example would be equivalent to searching for cats dogs.
-: Requires that the term after - is not included in the results. For example, cats -dogs will find results including cats and exclude all results that include dogs.
|: Allows results where either term is included. For example, cats | dogs will find results with either term.
"": Requires that the exact phrase is included in the results. For example "cats and dogs" will search for results including the exact phrase "cats and dogs".
#: Searches for a tag, in areas that support tags. For example, #animals will search for articles that are tagged with the animals tag.
Text Search Operators
When using text search, the following operators are available:
"": Requires that the exact phrase is included in the results. For example "cats and dogs" will search for results including the phrase cats and dogs. This is only available for the Title field in the Ticket search.
'': When searching for a numeric value, TeamDynamix will attempt to bring up the ticket with that ID if one exists. If you instead want to search for that number within a ticket's content (such as in the description or custom attributes), you should enclose the search term in single quotes (').
- Searching for
12345 will attempt to locate a ticket with the ID 12345.
- Searching for
'12345' will look for that number anywhere in a ticket’s content, such as the title, description, or custom fields.
Advanced Knowledge Base Search in the Client Portal
Knowledge base specific search (advanced search) gives filtering options that are not available in Client Portal Full Search. Advanced Knowledge Base search can be found by going into the Client Portal, clicking on the Knowledge Base tab, and then clicking on the word Search at the far right in the next row of tabs.
See detailed information about using the Advanced Knowledge Base Search in Knowledge Article #5834 Using Advanced Knowledge Search in TeamDynamix.
Advanced Service Search in the Client Portal
The Advanced Service Search can be found by going into the Client Portal, clicking on the Services tab, and then clicking on the word Search at the far right in the next row of tabs. You can search for services filtering on the category.
