Zoom: Existing Zoom Meetings When Owner Leaves U-M

Environment

U-M Zoom

Issue

What happens to existing Zoom meetings when their owners/creators/hosts leave U-M and their Zoom accounts are deleted?

Resolution

  • The departing owner won't be able to log in to U-M Zoom after leaving U-M and having their eligible university affiliation removed.
  • This means any Zoom meetings (or webinars) owned by someone leaving U-M will be deleted upon their departure.
  • Refer to Zoom: Transfer Meeting/Webinar Ownership to a New Host for instructions on transferring ownership of your meetings and webinars before leaving U-M.
    • If the owner has already left the university and the meeting was deleted, it cannot be recovered. You will need to recreate the meeting.
