Issue
What is Follow Me Printing? How do I use Follow Me to print?
Resolution
Follow Me is a virtual print queue that holds your documents for up to 24 hours, letting you choose where and when to print your documents. Follow Me printing minimizes frustration from accidentally printing to the wrong printer, printing to a device that is jammed or out of toner, or having someone accidentally grab your document before you get to the printer.
Printing to Follow Me
There are a number of ways to submit jobs to the Follow Me queue:
Releasing Follow Me Jobs
After submitting jobs to Follow Me, they will hold on our servers for up to 24 hours. You will receive an email notice at the 23 hour mark to alert you that you have pending jobs about to expire. You can release your pending Follow Me jobs to a printer a few different ways:
Note: Before releasing your jobs please take note of the printer's current status. If a printer is warning you that it is jammed or out of paper or toner, move on to another printer before attempting to release your document!
Note: while there is no cost associated with submitting jobs to Follow Me, please pay close attention to the per page cost of Campus Computing Sites printers when releasing your documents!
Cancelling Pending Follow Me Jobs
If you no longer wish to print a document you submitted to Follow Me, you can cancel the job via:
Additional Information
Note for failed Follow Me release: if a job fails to complete (either due to a jam or a document parse error) and the job cannot be resumed for whatever reason, the job will need to be resubmitted to the Follow Me queue and released at the printer.
