How can I host or publish a website for my research study?
What resources are available at University of Michigan or Michigan Medicine for hosting websites and web apps?

There are many resources for web hosting available at U-M. The right resource really depends on the goals, purpose and features needed.
To host informational websites for free:
- ITS - Web Hosting Options | Getting Started
- Simple point-and-click web options:
- Google Sites
- UM SharePoint
- LSA SharePoint + Adobe Experience Manager
- HITS SharePoint (internal sites only
- DIY options (some coding needed) :
Paid website design and hosting:
Paid web app development and hosting, in particular for research and care delivery:
For research apps/portals:
- Several mobile tech platforms offer mobile app development or participant portals as part of their subscription licenses.
Other teams that could help:
- Join the Collaboration & Productivity CoP and ask the group in Slack
- Reach out to HITS Academic IT and request a consultation
As you plan for your website, keep in mind that available options could be dictated by HIPAA requirements, especially if the website will capture, contain or process participant data.
