Aid for Child Care

I have dependent children and need help paying for child care while I'm in school. Is there any help available?

Yes! The University of Michigan offers a Child Care Subsidy to assist with the cost of licensed child care for young, dependent children in the State of Michigan.

To be eligible for consideration, you must (list not exhaustive):

  1. Be enrolled at least half-time in a University of Michigan-Ann Arbor degree program
  2. Have dependent child(ren) 12 years of age or younger (or a child(ren) 19 years of age or younger if the dependent has special needs) in licensed care
  3. Incur child care expenses from a child care provider licensed by the State of Michigan
  4. Demonstrate financial need
  5. Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress 
  6. Have no partner/spouse available to provide majority care
